Investigation: For my service and creativity part of my CAS I decided to do some long term project which I will enjoy. I thought of different ideas and wanted to choose the one that will be the most usefull for others. Because of winter, I think animals are in the biggest need of help and that's why this time i choose to help them. I love animals since very younge age and I had lots of animals myself. Thats's why helping them and carying for them comes naturally to me.
Preparation: I looked at animals shelters located close to me. I found one which i liked and called them if they need our help. I asked my friends to get involved in this and also help me in this project. We decided to collect food and different accessories for cats and dogs in animal shelter. We did a brainstorm of ideas what to do to encourage students to bring things for animals. We came up with competition for our school. The whole point of competition is to raise the biggest amound of things for cats or dogs. Every item has certain number of points and people are collecting the points as a class. The class that will have the most points gets a price. Dog shelter announced that they will make a dog show for us to thank for raised things. We thought that it will be the best way to reward the winning class. As a penultimate step, we went to our principal to confirm if our idea is possible. As the last step we prepared posters to advertise our competition.
Action: As the last step we prepared posters to advertise our competition. On our corridor we put a box for all thinks people bring and all is left to do is wait for people to bring things :). We check the box everyday and it seems to be fuller and fuller everyday.
Reflection: I learned that it is important to advertise the action well. Plus our "competition worked very well, it motivated people to bring food for dogs, especially kids from class M1 which took the competition very seriously and they are determinated to win.
08.02.16 This project is going very well at the end of December we hang out the results of the compatition so far, and it encouraged more people to take part in it. At the end of January we also had a list hang. Class M1 is still on first place and we are happy to see the box filling up with food. There's still a time till March so we will continue to watch a progress
Update: We managed to collect a lot of food for dog and cats and some equipment such as blankets to make the conditions for animals better. I was supised of the amount of food we were able to collect and I am very proud to of this project. I think it turned out amazing because we were very involved and devoted to this project because of our love to animals. I hope to help dog shelters more in the future.
